New releases

by JM - 12:39 on 25 April 2007
How odd that not one but two great documentaries, both using a small amount of footage supplied by ourselves, are released this month. Can't wait to see them both as they feature two of our idols .
Joe Strummer was one of the great heroes of punk who managed to retain his ideals and never sold out. Rather than succumb to financial blandishments and agree to a Clash reunion tour, he reinvented himself with a new band, the Mescaleros, and kept his integrity. Julien Temple, whose "Filth and the Fury" on the Sex Pistols was deservedly critically acclaimed, has made another excellent documentary which will keep Joe's memory alive.

Scott Walker's head remained resolutely unturned when as the heartbreakingly beautiful frontman of  the Walker Brothers he became a Sixties heartthrob, and forty years later he is a highly respected musician unafraid to walk his own path. 30th Century Man is executive produced by David Bowie, and features Radiohead, Brian Eno, Goldfrapp, and many others. Directed by Stephen Kijak (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Cinemania, Ghostlight)
